Last year, students from Monroe Elementary school successfully got Utah’s state tree changed from the Colorado spruce to the quaking aspen.

This year, another group of elementary students is getting involved in the legislative process to establish the golden retriever as the official state domestic animal.

Currently, Utah doesn’t have a state domestic animal.
