SALT LAKE CITY -- Sean Reyes was sworn in as Utah Attorney General at the state capitol Monday morning.

Reyes is Utah’s 21st attorney general and he is reportedly the first ethnic minority to win a statewide election.

“And that is my vision – that we can have the integrity of El Cid – to continue to make decisions not based on what is politically convenient, or personally advantageous, but what is right under the law,” Reyes said.

Reyes has served in the position for the past year. He was selected by the Utah Republican Party after his predecessor John Swallow resigned amid criminal and legislative investigations.
