SALT LAKE COUNTY — Police have identified a man killed in a car crash in Parleys Canyon Monday night.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol was dispatched to two slide offs on Interstate 80 westbound in Parleys Canyon at mile marker 129.

According to UHP officials, a woman driving an SUV stopped to check on the two cars that slid off the roadway and parked on the right shoulder.

The woman was outside her vehicle when Ronald Murrdock, 56, of Bellevue, Wash., traveling west in an Acura, lost control and crashed into the passenger side rear of the SUV.

Murrdock was killed on impact with the SUV, according to UHP officials.

UHP officials are looking at speeding in connection with road conditions as the cause of the crash.

Murrdock was wearing his seat belt.
