SALT LAKE CITY – Dogs at the Humane Society of Utah are going home for Thanksgiving.

The Humane Society is trying to get every dog out of the shelter and into a warm home for the holiday. Volunteers are encouraged to spoil the pups, and maybe give them a holiday feast of their own for Thanksgiving.

“One thing that we love for our volunteers to do when they take a dog home for the holidays is to spoil them but not give it any table scraps. Turkey bones from the table, not good for the pup, it’ll give them a tummy ache,” said Jamie Usry, development director for the Humane Society.

The Humane Society expects about 40 volunteers will participate.

The dogs will be back in time for the Humane Society‘s “Black Furday” special, which starts Friday at 10 a.m.
