ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A woman appears to have accidentally fatally shot herself in the head with a gun bought to prepare for possible Ferguson-related unrest, according to sources briefed on the police investigation.

The shooting occurred Friday night in downtown St. Louis, the city’s Metropolitan Police Department said, in an area dominated by vacant lots beside a football stadium.

The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident.

Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN.

The boyfriend, who wasn’t identified, told police that the couple had bought a gun because of fears of unrest related to the pending grand jury decision on the shooting of Michael Brown, the sources said.

He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.

He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car.

He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.

The investigation is continuing because police want to be sure the story as told by the boyfriend is correct, the sources said.

Police are awaiting gun trace results, as part of the ongoing investigation.

COP KILL A CREEP! pow pow pow
    Threatened by US
    Drag a few creeps

His entire body would test positive for GSR if a round was touched off inside a car. Plus, GSR tests have been ruled all but useless in court.

Gunshot residue is more relative to the pattern it leaves on the suspect; if a high concentration is found on the hand running vertically up the forearm, it likely means he shot a fire arm. However, in the case where as this one happens to be, the fact they recently purchased this weapon means that residue could be left behind from testing it. Also, residue is just as admissible as using blood spray patterns and wound mapping to identify a killing weapon.

No waiting period in Missouri, and it is legal to keep an operable–that is, functional, loaded, and readily available–in one’s vehicle without a permit. She was legal, just stupid.

Well, as the media LOVES to identify Blacks (good or bad) in the news and because there was no mention of any color in this article, I’m betting they were BOTH white.

Wow. I hate to dance on the graves of the dead, but you NEVER wave a gun. It’s meant to kill. And it kills fools as readily as it kills bad guys. What a fool. Hard to whip up much sympathy for this one.

“The investigation is continuing because police want to be sure the story as told by the boyfriend is correct, the sources said.” Haven’t we learned from Ferguson not to report a story until the facts are confirmed?

It’s kind of interesting how some of you mock a dead woman. You all should show some respect regardless of her poor choice in firearms handling. This was someone’s daughter, sister or perhaps a mother. You all coward behind your keyboards, but I doubt you’d be running your mouths like you are in public.

Can this Ferguson fiasco just STOP already, pretty please? I am really getting tired of reading about how these protests are continuing like it’s the police vs. black people and that’s how it’s always been. There is more to society and more to the world than those two categories and whatever beef may be had between the two parties. Life is too short to focus on skin color when there is so much work that needs to be done!

I hate to tell you this, but racism works both ways and it’s not an exclusive battle of black people vs. the police. It is not a revolution in which any good will emerge and the price will prove much too high in the end.

A price has already been paid in that a life was lost and an officer of the law had to give up a career that he truly loved; just take race out of it and losses are all that is left. People need to STOP protesting and resorting to violence to solve problems, as violence solves nothing and it only offers invitation for conflict, hatred, and indifference to arise.

Would they who have lost their lives to this continuing battle be pleased about the current behavior that society is currently exhibiting? I don’t believe they who have passed on are too pleased that their work towards peace among all men seems to have been in vain. The work of those before us so unity would be possible is continually being forgotten because of the vengeance that EVERYONE seems to carry merely because of skin color.

I offered some comments a few days ago about this topic and it’s getting quite annoying that people can’t look past the color of skin long enough to remember that we are ALL people; people should just want to work together and when things are lost, they shouldn’t want to dwell on the losses, but instead rebuild on what remains.

Riots and protests will not bring back the dead, nor will it silence the cries of those whose blood was shed; riotous action will only shed more blood and increase the population of those still on the Earth. No good can come from they who waste the opportunity to find and build a future from senseless tragedy, but nothing can reverse it. It’s happened and nothing can change it, but a lot can be learned because of it.

However, a lot of people aren’t choosing to learn anything about how to make the world better and how to prevent future tragedies of a similar calibre from happening. Everyone is so caught up in grief-fueled protests and blood lust that they can’t be grateful for what is; they are instead focused on what was and can’t look beyond the sorrow to the sunshine.

Even in a time of year where gratitude should be had, I am continuing to see excessive coverage on the riots triggered by the situation in Ferguson and I am getting EXASPERATED by how easily people can be pulled into a conflict and involve themselves in it for whatever reason. I see no good coming from this continued warmongering.

With a heavy heart, I am continuing to read all these news stories about riots everywhere over the whole Ferguson thing and I am starting to get annoyed by the fact that people can’t look beyond what happened and rise from the ashes instead of making a bigger pile of them. Ashes that aren’t used to rebuild will eventually crumble to dust. Dust is what’s becoming of our once mighty society made up of various individuals that all have something to contribute.

I don’t get why people are allowing petty things like skin color to divide and destroy rather than serve as building blocks to exploring and celebrating the beauty and variety within all individuals that make up the world we live in.

As I told my father when he was dying, beauty rises from the ashes and wonderful things can be formed from ashes, no matter how many ashes there are. Instead of rising from the ashes of this whole situation, however, people are so wrapped up in anger and hate that they are creating more ashes from which there can be no beauty found.

I am so tired of the continued battles between people merely over the color of their skin and all the hatred that stemmed from the PAST. Leave the past in the past and learn to look beyond the color of skin.

Has the world really progressed beyond the days of racial issues like it has been so vehemently claimed? Judging by all the action not only in Ferguson, but all over the world, it looks like there has been a very violent rebirth of the terrible, deadly pandemic that racism truly is. Or did it ever truly disappear?

Pandemics have a history of emerging from God knows where, causing terrible agony and pain across the world and then vanishing, but did racism ever truly go away or is it the pandemic that will prove to be unbeatable? Racism is truly despicable and MUST end!

    First, get training.

    Then, buy a firearm.

It’s fairly obvious that the only one of them that had any common sense, to say nothing of training, was the boyfriend, and at the girl did EXACTLY what would have made Darwin grin.
