OSTROW LUBELSKI, Poland — A 91-year-old woman, Janina Kolkiewicz of Ostrow Lubelski Poland, was declared dead earlier this month, but as her family was preparing her funeral they received notice the woman had woken up and was feeling well again.

The doctor who wrote out the death certificate said: “I do not know how it is possible. I examined her, she did not show signs of life.”

The doctor came to the house of 91-year-old on November 6 and examined her.

The doctor said: “I found lack of a pulse, checked the carotid artery, action of the heart, lungs, pupils. None had any reflexes. Typical symptoms. I was sure that the patient is dead.”

She was summoned by the family of Mrs. Janina when they noticed that she was not breathing, and that her heart rate was not noticeable.

This was confirmed by the doctor, who said the woman was missing all vital signs. The doctor wrote out a death certificate.

Two hours later, personnel from a funeral home picked up the body and relatives began to prepare for burial.

At midnight that same day, the family received a phone call from the funeral home. They were informed that the lady was found alive in cold storage room after spending almost 11 hours there.

Mrs. Janina Kolkiewicz returned home and is feeling fine. The prosecutor’s office has started an investigation into the case.
