WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A man was shot at a West Valley City McDonald’s early Saturday morning.

Investigators say witnesses called in about multiple shots fired in the area. However, the victim had already been taken to the Jordan Valley Medical Center.

The shooting occurred in a McDonald’s parking lot near 3400 West and 3500 South.

The victim told police he was shot by an unknown suspect from inside a black car at approximately 3 a.m.

Detectives said they are going to review surveillance video, but there are many unknowns at this point in the investigation.

“There were other people in the parking lot, I don't know who exactly was with him but he did have some people transfer him to the hospital. I don't know how they were involved,” said Sgt. Todd Grey, West Valley City Police Department.

The man who was shot is in fair condition, according to officials. No other injuries were reported.

Police said they believe the shooting was gang related.
