WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A 72-year-old man is expected to recover after he was shot in the doorway of his home Saturday night, according to West Valley City police.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the West Valley City man answered a knock on his door when he was shot twice in the neck, according to police.
The victim’s wife told police the suspect ran off after the shooting.
Police searched the neighborhood with a canine unit but no arrest has been made.
The elderly man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but police expect him to survive his injuries.
Little information is known about the suspect. It is also unknown the type of weapon that was used because no shell casings were recovered.
