SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah — South Salt Lake fire crews responded to a fire in the area of 3200 South and 300 East Friday evening after a power transformer exploded.
Officials in South Salt Lake tell FOX 13 News that first responders arrived at an apartment complex at 3195 South 300 East to find flames and smoke coming from the roof of the complex.
Precautionary evacuations were ordered at the complex as crews battled the fire. The fire was extinguished later Friday evening, and it is estimated between three and five units in the complex may not be safe to occupy as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross is helping to provide shelter for displaced residents.
