MAGNA, Utah - Unified fire crews are investigating after a field fire burned near Magna overnight.

Firefighters said it's just part of what will likely be a very busy fire season.

More than 50 firefighters from Unified, Salt Lake City and West Valley were called to the scene just after midnight.

The quick-moving flames were near Kennecott property just north of State Road 201 near 9200 W.

Fire crews said the cool weather and light winds helped them control the flames.

But they said other things were working against them.

"We have very limited water supply out here," Unified Fire Chief Brian Anderton said. "We've had to call in some units that we call 'water tenders' that bring water to the scene and help shuttle and resupply the apparatus on scene."

Officials said the fire may have burned up to 15 acres.

Authorities said the grass that burned was still very green and it burned quickly.

Fire crews are warning fire danger will continue to increase as conditions dry out.
