SALT LAKE CITY -- A woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend while he was holding their 4-month-old child appeared in court Wednesday.
Police arrested Thu Huong Thi Nguyen, 41, almost immediately after the stabbing.
Detectives said the stabbing occurred during a gathering at the Parkway Apartments on Labor Day last year.
Based on testimony given Wednesday, it is very likely Nguyen will stand trial for the alleged murder.
At least two eyewitnesses testified that they saw Nguyen stab Thai Van Le in the back. One of them, a friend of the victim, told the court Nguyen was screaming obscenities at Le before stabbing him with a steak knife.
According to further witness testimony, Nguyen allegedly dragged Le's body down a set of concrete stairs at the apartment complex and put him in a vehicle before police arrived.
Nguyen faces charges of murder, obstruction of justice and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child.
