SALT LAKE CITY – An event was held this weekend to help young people get a jump start on careers in technology.

CodeDay is described as a hackathon that brings people together for 24 hours to come up with a new technology project—whether it be a game a new app or something else.

The event is focused on teens and people in their 20s, and it allows them to showcase their talents and be “discovered” by those in the field. The event began at 11 a.m. Saturday and continued for 24 hours straight.

“CodeDay is meant to get younger and inexperienced people excited about technology,” organizer Jesse Michelsen stated in a press release.

Even if the participants’ final product isn’t immediately marketable, the event helps them gain experience and recognition in the field.

CodeDay was held in several major U.S. cities, click here for more details about the event.
