SALT LAKE CITY — A 68-year-old man is riding his bicycle from Lake Clear, N.Y. to Kanab in effort to raise funds to benefit homeless pets.

Floyd Lampart, cyclist and animal lover, completed a 1,200-mile bike ride around the perimeter of the U.S. last year with the goal of raising $100,000 for a new clinic at Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab.

While he raised more than $50,000, Lampart was determined to reach his original financial goal.

On April 17, Lampart set out on his second ride with hopes of raising $40,000 for Best Friends Animal Society.

The ride is named Pedal for Paws.

Lampart carries photos of his four rescue dogs as his motivation. He’s also dedicated his bike ride to his son, Christopher, who was killed in January.
