BOUNTIFUL, Utah —  A medical helicopter was dispatched for a man who was critically injured in a rollover crash in Bountiful Monday morning.

The car rolled several times off Legacy Highway and into a field near 500 S.

Police said the driver had been speeding at the time of the crash.

“A deputy was out on routine patrol when he saw a vehicle a considerable distance off the road. It looked like a wreck. He thought that maybe it’d been there since last night. He went to go investigate and found that […] the driver was still inside the vehicle,” said Sgt. Brandon Roundy, Davis County Sheriff’s Office. “We believe alcohol was a factor.”

Deputies conducted a search around the area of the crash to see if there were any other victims. No one else was found.

According to a posting on the South Davis Metro Fire twitter account, the crash forced officials to close the frontage road leading to the Bountiful Landfill near 500 S.

The frontage road reopened around 9:30.
