High winds cause ski lift shutdowns

SALT LAKE CITY — A ski resort closed its Monday night operations because of high-wind conditions.

According to a tweet, Brighton Ski Resort plans to open again at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Several other resorts started closing lifts around 11 a.m. because of the high winds.

Snowbasin Resort officials closed its lifts about four hours ago because of the weather conditions and will remain closed for the rest of the day, according to a tweet from the resort.

Lifts at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort were closed for about an hour and have since opened Gad 2, Gadzoom, Mid Gad, Wilbere, Baby Thunder and Chickadee.

The Collins lift at Alta was closed for approximately four hours. It has since opened according to a tweet from the resort.

“Word on the street is that there’s plenty of creamy goodness to be had,” according to a tweet from Alta Ski Area.
