Crash sends cars into Sandy canal

Posted

SANDY, Utah – Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash that sent two cars into a Sandy canal.

Police say a car carrying two people was rear-ended by another car driven by one person traveling at a high rate of speed near 7700 South and 700 East.

That crash caused both vehicles to fall into the East Jordan Canal. The canal only had residual water and was six to eight inches deep.

“They are in fair condition. They were transported with some minor injuries mostly for precautionary measures,” said Sandy City Police Sgt. Mark Soper.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor but they’re still investigating the crash.
