SALT LAKE CITY -- A mass reception was held at The Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City Saturday night, and more than 1,000 people came out to celebrate several same-sex couples who were married in Utah.

The couples find themselves facing uncertainty after a federal judge struck down Utah's ban on same-sex marriage, which allowed them to be married. Later, another judge put a stay on same-sex marriages in Utah pending the result of an appeal. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has said the state will not recognize the marriages of same-sex couples who were wed in Utah.

Saturday night's event was put together through donations from a variety of people, and the event sought to raise funds for Restore Our Humanity, which is a group working toward making same-sex marriage legal in Utah.

FOX 13 News' Todd Tanner was at the event, see the video above for his live report.

Oh know! The world ended! Oh wait, no it didn’t. Allowing these people to be happy didn’t effect anyone else negatively! Go figure!

  • media

the media is so perverted. I wonder how they will fear when russia invades from the east and china from the west. Will they actually support the invaders, saying everyone needs to be happy?

You refer to the ‘media’ as if they have a single central brain hub. Nothing could be further from the truth. Simply reporting on an event or following a mass movement does not make them purveyors of what they inform the public about. But then the public might be overly sensitive and want to close their ears and eyes to what is around them. I welcome coverage of all kinds, from all different perspectives. You know, they report, I decide. Bravo! The founding fathers even made sure they have a place.

Funny how no one hears from you when the ‘media’ is pushing the old way of bigotry. Last time I checked in is 2014, NOT 1914.

The media pushing its morals into everyone? Lol. It was a group of people trying to push its morals onto everyone that created this problem, friend.

1,ooo people = mass reception. That’s enough to change any law that the voters of Utah passed with over 900,000 people.

Oh look, another person that thinks it’s constitutional for the will of the people to vote away other peoples’ civil rights… Lets vote away your rights next. Maybe we can vote and ban interracial marriages… Then we can vote and legalize slavery in Utah. Oh, and since we don’t have an anti-discrimination law here that covers sexual orientation, tomorrow I’m firing all my heterosexual employees. I can’t have them pushing their filthy disgusting lifestyle on my customers.
