Three skiers were partially buried at Alta Ski Resort when an avalanche was triggered Monday afternoon, officials said.

The avalanche was skier triggered at approximately 11:45 a.m. at Spot Slot above the High Traverse inside the resort, said spokeswoman Connie Marshall. Rescue crews were able to dig the skiers out and none reported injuries.

Marshall said it is a rare occasion for an avalanche to occur inside the resort. She did not know the last time one had been triggered.
