IRON COUNTY, Utah – Two people were wounded, including a police officer, in an officer-involved shooting in Kanarraville Friday.

Deputy Chuck Triplett, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident happened at about 2:45 p.m.

Triplett said officers were responding to a call about a suicidal individual. He said when officers arrived the man came outside, then went back inside the residence and came back out with a weapon and tried to shoot the officers.

The officers returned fire, and one of them was hit, as was the suspect. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to a hospital. Triplett said it appears the officer’s injuries are superficial. The nature and severity of the injuries to the suspect is unknown at this time.

The deputy was released from the hospital Friday. The other individual remains hospitalized.
