OREM, Utah — Crews responded to a vehicle that caught fire on I-15 Tuesday evening, and two southbound lanes were closed near the wreckage.

The incident occurred on southbound I-15 near the exit to University Parkway in Orem, and two southbound lanes were closed in that area as crews responded.

Sgt. Todd Royce of the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver pulled over, exited the vehicle and called for help.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flame when crews arrived, and firefighters put out the blaze. Utah Department of Transportation officials sent a snow plow and salt to remove the ice that was created by the water that extinguished the burning vehicle.

There were no injuries reported. The vehicle is reported to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
