CEDAR CITY — A Cedar City woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of rape after allegedly prostituting her 13-year-old daughter to pay her utilities, according to court documents.
It was reported that the woman aided in allowing at least two men to engage in sexual intercourse with the young girl, according to the probable cause statement.
The mother allegedly recruited at least one of these men to have sex with her daughter. As long as the man was willing to assist with paying utilities at the woman’s apartment, she allowed him to share a bedroom with the girl, according to the statement.
The woman also provided condoms and encouraged sexual activity, according to the statement.
The mother was booked on two counts of rape, a first-degree felony. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled on Dec. 4 in Cedar City.
The mother’s name has not been reported in order to protect the identity of the child.
