SALT LAKE CITY – Troopers are investigating after a car veered off I-80 and went down an embankment to land on the road below Sunday night.

Trooper Lawrence Hopper of the Utah Highway Patrol said a Mazda 6 was traveling eastbound on I-80 when the driver veered left and hit a concrete barrier around 7:46 p.m.

Hopper said the vehicle jumped the barrier and traveled a short distance along it before it rolled over the barrier and down the embankment. The car landed on its hood on 2000 East.

The male driver sustained minor injuries. Hopper said the accident is still under investigation, and he said they are investigating the accident as a possible DUI as alcohol may have been a factor.
