Woman airlifted to Las Vegas hospital after car accident

HURRICANE — A woman was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital after the vehicle she was riding in collided with another car on State Route 9 in Hurricane Friday night, officials said.

The accident occurred in the intersection of 5300 West when a man driving a Nissan Maxima attempted to turn left and collided with a man driving a Toyota Avalon traveling east at approximately 6:55 p.m., according to a release from Hurricane Police Department.

The two drivers received minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The passenger in the Toyota had to be airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital due to the severity of her injuries, the release stated.

The driver of the Nissan said the sun was in his eyes, according to the release.

The accident is still under investigation.
