An officer with the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources died after being involved in a traffic accident Tuesday.
DWR officials said Keith Fullenkamp, 37, was driving home from Colorado when he crashed on Highway 789 in Wyoming.
Wyoming police said a truck hauling two empty trailers crossed the center line of the highway and entered the northbound lane. Fullenkamp was driving his pickup truck northbound at the time, and attempted to avoid the collision by steering onto the northbound shoulder. The truck and trailers still ended up colliding with Fullenkamp.
Officers said after the collision, the truck and trailer caught on fire and became fully engulfed. They said they are still investigating what caused the truck and trailers to drift into northbound traffic.
DWR officials said Fullenkamp organized many community events including a waterfowl fair. That event was held on Sept. 7 at Farmington Bay with more than 650 people in attendance.
