WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- West Valley City police are investigating a stabbing that led to a man's death Monday night.

Officers said the incident happened near 1800 West Parkway Blvd. and 2400 South at the Parkway Apartments in West Valley City.

Authorities said they received a call around 10:30 p.m. about a disruption coming from one of the apartments.

When police arrived, they noticed a white van leaving the scene, and witnesses confirmed that they saw two women taking a man from the apartment into the van.

Police said they followed the van to a hospital where the victim, identified as 44-year-old Thai Van Le, was treated for stab wounds. He later died from his injuries.

Detectives said several people were having a Labor Day gathering at the apartment, and at some point there was an argument. They said during the argument Le was stabbed once in the back.

Officers said Le's girlfriend, 41-year-old Thu Huong Thi Nguyen, has been arrested in connection with the homicide.

Investigators said the incident appears to be domestic in nature, and Le and Nguyen were living together with their child. They said the child was present during the stabbing.

Nguyen has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of domestic related aggravated homicide, obstruction of justice and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
