University of Delaware researchers reportedly got quite a surprise while working to recapture tagged sand sharks when they ended up reeling in a “turducken of the sea.”

The researchers used a small fish called a menhaden for bait, and a smooth dogfish latched on, only to be swallowed afterward by a larger sand tiger shark.

The ORB LAB posted the picture of the strange catch on their Facebook Page. The ORB LAB stands for Ocean Exploration, Remote Sensing, Biogeography Lab.
