VERNAL — Uintah County Search and Rescue and Naples Fire responded to a teenager that fell off a cliff in the Vernal area, Sunday afternoon.
Crews responded to the area about 6 miles north of Vernal where a 14-year-old girl broke her leg after she slipped while climbing rocks, a press release from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Department stated.
a combined high angle rescue team made up of the Uintah County Search and Rescue and Naples Fire Department were able to assist Gold Cross Ambulance staff stabilize the .juvenile, place her in a rescue basket and lower her to the ambulance.
The girl was transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center for treatment of scrapes and a broken leg, the release stated. A full recovery is expected.
Crews also rescued the teenager’s two cousins that were above her on a ledge.
The children were at a family gathering when they went rock climbing.
