TOOELE, Utah – Police are looking for a 62-year-old woman who was reported missing Wednesday after she left for work and disappeared somewhere between Tooele and Sandy.
Tooele City Police Department officials are coordinating with the Draper and Sandy police departments to find Jane Ashby.
Ashby’s family said she left for work at around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Ashby went to Wal-Mart, and then her cellphone pinged off a tower in Draper.
Ashby is described as having brown hair and brown eyes. She is about 5-feet 2-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. Ashby was last seen driving a red Ford Escape with Utah license plate number B33 8RG, according to a press release from the Tooele City Police Department.
According to the same press release, Ashby is “believed to possibly be in the southern Salt Lake County or Utah County areas.” Police said Ashby appears to have recently purchased household cleaning chemicals that can produce toxic fumes when mixed. Police asked the public to use caution and contact local police if they see Ashby rather than approaching her or her vehicle.
Ashby’s family said they are concerned for her well-being, as she has been battling depression since the death of her husband in December.
Anyone with information regarding Ashby is asked to call the Tooele City Police Department at 435-882-8900.
