SALT LAKE CITY - Thousands of teens and young adults got a shot at stardom on Thursday as hit talent show "American Idol" held auditions at EnergySolutions Arena.
"American Idol" was in Salt Lake City for its first stop of a seven-city tour for the show's thirteenth season.
Thursday's stop was the first trip to Utah for "Idol" in five years, and producers say it's one of their favorite cities because of the dedicated fans.
"We have all kinds of new stuff going on here. Here's a new golden ticket. They don't get this today they get this from the judges eventually. Take a good look because this is what they won," said Patrick Lynn, a senior executive producer for American Idol.
Thursday's auditions are just the first round. Those who passed this round will still have to perform in front of the celebrity judges to see if they are going to Hollywood.
Season 13 of "American Idol" premieres on FOX next January.
