OGDEN, Utah – Ogden Police helped solve a cold case dating back to 1994.

On October 14, 1994, fire crews were called to a home at 119 West 29th Street.  They found the body of an adult male inside.  The Utah State Medical Examiner’s office determined there was no foul play involved, but they were unable to identify the man.

Last month police re-opened the case after a receiving an alert about a possible match from their National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database.  They were able to match the fingerprints to John Edwin Duff, a missing man from Oregon.

Ogden investigators worked with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office to locate and notify Duff’s family.
