Two people were found dead in a house fire Friday morning in an unincorporated community of Salt Lake County.
Unified Police are now officially investigating the deaths as a double murder, and the fire that crews were initially dispatched to is being investigated as a likely arson.
The fire broke out at approximately 8:30 a.m. Friday at 2811 E. Ksel Drive (9450 South).
Investigators said the fire has made it difficult for them to make a positive identification of the two individuals. They still do not have an official identity on the man and woman.
Unified Police said they believe the individuals were killed by a third person and they died as a result of injuries sustained from a shooting.
“We are now asking for the public’s help in looking for suspect information or information about this case,” said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Department. “We are looking at this as a homicide, a double homicide.”
Lt. Hoyal said they police do have several suspects as well, but ask anyone with information or who may have seen something suspicious in the area of the home contact Unified Police at (801) 743-5915.
