SALT LAKE CITY - Governor Herbert has until Friday to give the federal government an answer on whether Utah will run an insurance exchange for the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare.

The top four Republicans in Utah's House and Senate signed a letter saying they want nothing to do with Obamacare; these aren't Utah health reform initiatives and they don't want Utah to build and pay for a federal program.

Herbert's spokesperson Ally Isom says the Governor isn't ready to make any decisions until he gets more information.

"We don't know what the specifics are. We don't know the requirements of the federal mandate at this point. We'd like to know more information before we make a decision whether to stay with our existing model," Isom said.
