SALT LAKE CITY -- Whether you are a believer or not, there are a handful of places in Utah with reputations for being haunted.

Salt Lake City’s Peery Hotel is one of those spots rumored to have had spooky encounters. Believers think the hotel had guests from long ago who never checked out.

“A Moaning Molly, she lives in our elevator,” says Peery Hotel spokesman Kristofer Watson. “A lot of guests have had experiences riding on our haunted elevator.”

And are restless spirits still waiting for a train that will never arrive at the Rio Grande depot?

Molly may not be alone. Some say spirits are still waiting for a train that will never arrive at the Rio Grande depot.

And do ghosts come out to play at night under the spooky spires of the Salt Lake City and County building?

Security guard Bil Zamora believes so.

“I hear this ‘bang’ and something slid across the floor and hit the other side of the wall, I was right here,” said Zamora.

Zamora describes some strange goings on he had witnessed making his rounds.

“I was closing up the attorney’s offices and I came by the law library and I pulled the door closed. And just as I did that and was heading into another room I hear this moaning, right up to my ear,” said Zamora.
