SALT LAKE CITY – A group called "Pinups for Pups" is teaming up with local photographer Mia Allen (owner of Pinup Jane Photography) to help dozens of rescue shelters and organizations across Utah with a creative calendar project inspired by a love of animals, feminine charm, and the 1940s.
“Pinup is all about embracing femininity and sexiness, but it’s sexy because it’s cute and it’s all about that gorgeous, fun-loving wholesome appeal of a healthy, happy woman,” said Mia Allen (announced earlier this year as the calendar's exclusive photographer.) “It’s really all about the age of innocence and celebrating women in their authenticity, and here we get to take that look and benefit the cause of animal rescue in such a huge way”
Allen's business, Pinup Jane, is located is Sugarhouse and focuses on providing personal photoshoots to everyday women, transforming them for the day into a vintage pinup bombshell with the use of hair, makeup, wardrobe, and era-specific posing techniques.
The calendar, founded in 2005 by Sondra and Jake Shannon, is currently on it's way to print, and all online sales will be shipped in time for Christmas.
This year’s calendar, which is currently available for pre-sale through the Pinup Jane and Pinups for Pups facebook pages, features women from all walks of life who are active in the community and care about animal rescue. 100% of the profits from these sales is given directly to animal rescue efforts.
“It’s such a fun unique way that we get to take women who are active in the community and care about the cause of animal rescue and celebrate them as women but also make a huge impact for the animals themselves by giving back to the groups who work so hard to save animals all year round” Allen said.
