ROY, Utah – A vacant house in Roy was destroyed in a Friday evening fire.
The fire started Friday evening at 4013 West and 5500 South in Roy. By the time fire crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. It was surrounded by trees, making firefighting efforts difficult.
“The trees really caused a problem. Number one was visability. It’s very difficult to see what we’ve got. The other problem is aerial operations, it’s difficult to operate with such confined area,” said Weber Fire Chief David Austin.
Officials say the house was vacant and may have been used to store the homeowners’ belongings. No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
