SALT LAKE CITY - A mistrial has been declared in the attempted murder case of a woman accused of trying to run down and kill her husband in 2006 continues on Friday.

Surveillance camera footage shows an SUV, allegedly driven by Brenda White, crashing through the lobby of the Woodland Office Towers and hitting White's estranged husband Jon. The incident happened on April 26, 2006. Brenda White is now charged with attempted murder and criminal mischief.

White's defense team claimed that she took several Xanax painkillers that day, clouding her decisions.

A mistrial was declared late Friday morning after a witness testified to overhearing jurors discussing the case in an elevator after court proceedings on Thursday.

The judge didn't feel anything untoward had happened, but he declared a mistrial to be safe. He said that the incident could weigh heavily on a possible conviction and could result in appeals.

There will be a scheduling conference later this month.
