SALT LAKE CITY -- Search and rescue crews at Mount Olympus brought down two missing hikers Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a father and his 10-year-old daughter were hiking a trail when they got lost and called from their cell phone for help.

They started hiking at 5 a.m. Tuesday and made a wrong turn and wound up in Hughes Canyon, according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

They were brought down to safety without injuries at about 4 p.m.

Hoyal says it is common for hikers to take a wrong turn on the trail and the police department is looking to add additional signage to prevent such incidents.
