SALT LAKE CITY -- Many outdoor public swimming pools opened over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Collin O'Connor, aquatics director at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex, offers some safety tips for using the pool this summer.

"Always wear sunscreen," said O'Connor. "Parents that have kids under the age of five, please be in the water within an arm's reach of your children."

Water diapers and plastic pants are required for all children under 3 years old, O'Connor said.
