WEST JORDAN — A woman who allegedly shot and killed her daughter then shot and wounded herself in an alleged suicide pact has been charged.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill filed murder charges against Mary Ethyl Hansen for the March 22 death.
Police say Hansen shot and killed her 18-year-old daughter Virginia Ray Hansen before turning the gun on herself, sustaining a gunshot wound to her head. According to a probable cause statement, Mary Hansen told officers that she and her daughter had a plan to die.
Mary Hansen has been charged with first degree felony murder. She remains in the Salt Lake County Jail.
