SALT LAKE CITY — A winter storm is making its way through Utah this weekend, bringing cold temperatures and up to a foot of snow in mountain areas.
The National Weather Service reports southerly wind gusts of 40-50 mph will continue through Saturday evening, making travel difficult on east-west routes in western, south-central and eastern Utah.
Temperatures are expected to be 10 to 20 degrees lower than usual for this time of year.
Snow is accumulating at elevations of 5,000 feet and greater, and some areas are expected to receive between six and 12 inches of snow by Monday.
