SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service has issued wind warnings and advisories for parts of the Wasatch Front and southern Utah starting Sunday evening.
Areas in the "Northern Wasatch Front" are expected to see the strongest winds — they are under a high wind warning from 8 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday. Davis and Weber counties are especially prone.
"The strongest gusts are expected in the high wind prone areas around Centerville to Farmington in Davis County, and near canyons in Weber County northward," the warning stated.
These areas are expected to experience northeast winds of 20-30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 mph. Residents are urged to secure loose objects on their property as they can be blown away. Property damage and power outages are also possible, the NWS said. High-profile vehicles, including semitrailers, may have issues in the area.
Pockets of blowing snow are also possible, and most of northern Utah is expected to see freezing temperatures Sunday night and Monday morning. This also creates the possibility of slick, icy roads.

Washington County will also be under a high wind warning with similar wind speeds and the same possible dangers, but without the freezing temperatures. This warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Sunday until 4 p.m. Monday.
The Salt Lake and Tooele valleys are under a less-extreme wind advisory from 6 p.m. Sunday night until noon Monday. However, residents may still experience winds of 15-25 mph and gusts of up to 45 near canyons on the Salt Lake Valley's east bench. Securing objects and driving carefully due to possible icy, slick roads is also advised in these areas.
