National Weather Service issues wind advisory for northern Utah; gusts up to 55 mph expected

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Wednesday morning through Thursday morning in northern Utah.

Northeast winds of 15-25 mph are expected, with gusts up to 55 mph in some areas.

The strongest winds are expected in the areas of eastern Weber and Davis counties, particularly in Farmington, Centerville and Bountiful.

The wind advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects such as holiday decorations and trampolines. Crosswinds are expected on I-15, US-89 and the Legacy Parkway in Weber, Davis and northern Salt Lake Counties," the advisory says. "Winds will gradually increase Wednesday morning and then decrease late Wednesday evening...but remain gusty near canyons into early Thursday morning."

Drivers are urged to use extra caution, especially when operating high-profile vehicles.
