SALT LAKE CITY — There's no holiday from the hot weather this weekend!

Temperatures will be about 5 to 15 degrees above average for the next few days with near record heat possible. Dangerous heat is expected across much of the south today and tomorrow. To avoid heat related illness, make sure you're staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks.

A few thunderstorms could pop up over the Southern Mountains today. There's also a slight chance of thunderstorms across Northern & Central Utah this afternoon & evening. Because it's so dry at the surface, the main impact will be gusty winds.
