Tourism plays a big role in the overall success of Utah's economy through visitor spending, taxes and jobs.
Before 2020, tourism accounted for $10 billion dollars for the state.
But in 2020, COVID completely reset the world of travel.
We wanted to check in with Bianca Lyon, Director of Community and Partner Relations in the Office of Tourism, to find out how the state is recovering.
Lyon says it will take the state five years to get back to where we were pre-pandemic.
But, she says Utah residents are key to that recovery. Lyon says it's important to boost the economy by enjoying our own backyard!
That includes staycations to national parks, visits to state parks, even enjoying take out or dining in at our amazing restaurants and shopping in local stores.
