Utahns Against Hunger receives Zero Hunger Hero Award

Smiths Food & Drug has a social impact plan called 'Zero Hunger Zero Waste'. That's a goal to eliminate food waste across their operations to help feed families.

Aubriana Martindale with Smith's says 40 percent of food goes wasted, yet 1 in 7 Utah children don't know where their next meal is coming from.

So, as a local grocer, Smith's feels they can help. With a partnership with Fox 13, they honor other organizations who have the same goal. Today they honored Utahns Against Hunger. They make sure families are fed all across the state.

Gina Cornia from Utahns Against Hunger received the award for the organization. The non-profit organization seeks to shape public policy by educating and collaborating with the federal and state policymakers, and to make nutrition programs work for the people who need them.
