It happens every first Tuesday in December across the nation, but Giving Tuesday can have a direct impact right in your hometown through the Utah Food Bank.
Ginette Bott, President and CEO of the Utah Food Bank, says the need is year-round. She explains, "With children at home and countless adults out of work, Utah Food Bank is seeing the need for assistance significantly increase."
In a typical year Utah Food Bank distributes 2-million pounds of food monthly to hungry Utahns. This year that need has climbed substantially, with 5-million pounds of food being distributed each month.
If you would like to help, Utah Food Bank needs donations of food, time and money. Monetary donations are key due to Utah Food Bank's buying power. Bott says, "One dollar donated equals $8.03 worth of goods and services, which can truly impact the lives of Utahns facing hunger."
