Since she won the title of Miss Utah USA, Rachel Slawson has been busy helping other Utahns who are struggling with mental health and educating others about suicide.

Slawson is a survivor of suicide. And, it was when she was hospitalized after a suicide attempt that she came up with her mantra "I Am Why". She says she'd been struggling with the question, "Why am I here?". When she realized SHE is the reason, everything became clearer for her.

Now she has a six-week coaching program that focuses on upgrading self care, emotional strength and owning your own voice as well as letting go of shame around mental health and sexuality in an open and candid way.

She's ready to launch the last one before the Miss USA competition, which could finally happen in the next couple of months. Slawson says she expects it to look much different this year, but is still expecting it to be a very powerful experience.
