Caytlin McCleery from Cayt's Meats and Meals says, "Ham fried rice is one of my go-to comfort foods".
But, she says there's a key ingredient that makes her recipe extra-tasty: real sesame oil (not the blended stuff, use the 100 percent stuff).
Cayt will make a huge batch because her kids will eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
She starts by smoking a ham and cube it up.... but you can buy a ham as well.
Recipe:
4 c. ham
4 Tbsp. sesame oil
2 bunches of diced green onions
Shredded carrots
6 eggs
8-10 c. white, long grain rice
Soy sauce
Start with frying the ham with the sesame oil and let the ham start to crisp up. Add the diced green onions and the shredded carrots. Let them saute a bit in the oils and then crack in 6 eggs. Constantly fold over until the eggs are almost cooked. Add in the cooked rice and drizzle soy sauce into the mixture for your liking.
It's easy and yummy and reheats great!
