One way or another, kids will be going back to school soon and families are trying to get ready.

Salt Lake City Rescue Mission is trying to help those who can't afford school supplies for their kids.

Pastor Joe Vazquez says they are holding a Back-to-School Giveaway on August 20 in five separate locations . One of those locations is in North Ogden at Tri-City Exchange. The other four are in the Salt Lake City area: Calvary Chapel, Vida Nueva Church, C.C.M.S. and Casa di Dios.

They will be handing out backpacks and school supplies as well as food boxes for families, 1,000 pairs of shoes and free clothing and other items.

Right now they are short on items, especially on backpacks and school supplies... they only have about 200 backpacks right now and they need 1,000.

If you'd like to help or if you need help call (801) 355-6310 or visit saltlakecitymission.org.

Salt Lake City Mission has been in the Salt Lake area for 28 years. They help 50,000 people a year with free goods and services.
