SALT LAKE CITY — With 11 freshman on the Utah roster, sophomore forward Timmy Allen is the upperclassman.
He finished pre-season as the Pac-12's leading scorer and now, with just three games left in regular season, Timmy is 5th in the conference with 17.4 points per game.
He's been thrown into a leadership position sooner than planned, but he was made for it. Back in 2016, Timmy lost his mom to cancer and every day, every game, he suits up for her. He said he no longer is playing for anyone but her, that he thinks about her before, during and after each game — she keeps him going.
His Mom's passing forced Timmy to grow up fast, which has made him into the leader he is today. Besides leading the team in scoring, his teammates will tell you he leads the team off the court and by example. There's no doubt his future is bright because he has his number one fan looking down on him, always.
